I want to work for travel channel, it must be my job to Travel the world. Im studying film directing and taking Photography courses. How and where do you think i should get a job that will allow me to travel?
Thanks a mil…

Photographers for National Geographic are at the top of their field. Don’t expect to get an offer right out of photography school. Look for a job that pays the rent first. Having discouraged you, let me say that there is hope. I attended one of their seminars, which was an excellent orientation to the field. Here is the link to the schedule: http://ngtravelerseminars.com/. In the one I attended, there was a section for pitching ideas. If they heard something that sounded interesting then they pursued it. They seek the kind of imagery that tells a story. It’s not the stuff you can buy in a postcard store. So travel and bring your camera. Look for the unique, rare, or surprising and which conveys an emotion or evokes one in the viewer. Build up your experience. Hone your skills. Be self-critical. A good photographer can get a winning shot with a 3 megapixel camera, while a hack will still get junk from an $8,000 DSLR.

How to travel cheap around Europe via Train?

I’m planning to Travel to Switzerland, Austria and Czech Rep this summer via train from UK. One of the cheapest options is to buy the Global Pass, which is only for European residents. However I’m not a European resident, which means that I need to find another cheap options to travel. Can anyone give any suggestions?

The global Interrail pass is for European residents. The global Eurail pass is for non-European residents.

So look at Eurail passes, but take into account that Czech Republic and the Eurostar are not part of the Eurail pass.

http://www.eurail.com

I personally would fly from the UK to Switzerland and from Prague to the UK. For Czech Republic I would by point-to-point tickets, for Switzerland and Austria I would compare point-to-point with national rail passes.

See www.whichbudget.com for flights

How can Electromagnetic Radiation travel without a medium?

If Electromagnetic Radiation can travel through the vacuum of space then it can Travel without a medium, but shouldn’t this be imposable? Or is it true that Electromagnetic Radiation uses the medium of existing magnetic fields, such as earths, distorting these fields much like sound waves do to air? And if so how can this have a direction of travel?

Electromagnetic waves travel through a vacuum and any other physical medium slows or stops their progression. They do not use existing magnetic fields as a medium, though they do interact with them.

An electromagnetic wave is nothing more than an a propagation of a changing electric and magnetic field. these fields are always perpendicular to each other and travel in the direction of E x B, where E and B are vectors indicating the direction of these fields.

Its because these are electric and magnetic fields. These fields are just regions where forces are exerted on charged particles, they are not made of particles themselves in the same way that sound waves are made from air molecules.

Is travel in Ecuador more dangerous for gringoes than other latin american countries?

I read some in a travel book and the warnings were so scary concerning assaults, weapons and kidnapping. I am now a little shy of travelling there and yet would like to go if it is safer than what I read. Anyone help?

I’ve been to Ecuador twice and traveled there extensively. If you travel smart and are aware of your surroundings, I don’t believe it is dangerous. Of course, you have to be aware, especially of pick pocketers (and in Quito many young street children are the worst) so just make sure you keep your money and valuables close to you.

I heard a few stories of people being held up, but all of those people were carrying too much (one for instance had 4 cell phone and 2 cameras). Someone mentioned blending in and not wearing anything too flashy, that is good advice. In the time I spent there (over 2 months) I did hear of one story that occurred on the Columbian-Ecuador border, where rebels boarded a bus and robbed the riders. This is not meant to scare you from traveling Ecuador, as all of my experiences were WONDERFUL! I just wanted to give you all of the info I had.

Some things that would make your Travels safer and easier:

Be able to speak some Spanish
Do not walk alone at night
Travel by taxis at night (especially in the cities)
Keep your valuables secure, but do not carry more than what is necessary
Walk around with your head up and confidently

Most of all, enjoy the beautiful place that is Ecuador, there are so many beautiful things to see and experience and Ecuadorians are such wonderful people.

Hypothetically, could something travel faster than the speed of light if it’s traveling in a different medium?

My Optics lecturer said something about how since light travels in a vacuum, you could, potentially, have something Travel faster in a different medium, one other than a vacuum.

True or false?

It has been done. Get something traveling in a vacuum just below the speed of light, and then whack it into a medium where it is now traveling at faster thant he speed of light in that medium. The particles that have had this done to them, slow down dramatically, and radiate their previous energy – its called Cerenkov radiation. So , yes – particles can exceed the speed of light, if they are in some medium other than a vacuum, but not for very long.

We are going on holiday and trying to work out the best spots in July. Peru is definitely on the adgenda, but we are interested in other recommended destinations and general Travel tips.

Go to Buenos Aires, Argentina. You can’t miss it. I visited the city with some friends last July and it was just amazing. In a month you’ll get to see/do so much! The Food is absolutely incredible there (they are well-known for their steaks and parrilladas). The culture is so rich: of course, they have the tango. You can catch tango shows in the streets in downtown sometimes. They also have more excluvise tango shows in theatres. Some restaurants in Puerto Madero (Buenos Aires) offer free tango lessons!

The city’s architecture is classical/prehispanic with a mix of modern in the Puerto Madero area. People are generally friendly (not all of them of course, but for the most part).

If you are a Sports fan, can’t miss the Boca stadium or the River Plate Stadium. The Boca is home to a very special soccer hall of fame, famous particularly because of Maradona and FIFA’s current No.1 soccer player in the world – Lionel Messi.

You can travel to the surroundings of the city – it is very easy to travel around the city: whether it be by bus, taxi or even walking.

Hope this works for you. Good luck in your trip!

What travel companies are good during study abroad?

I’m studying abroad in Italy this fall. I want to go to other countries while I am there, but a lot of the groups I’ve been finding for "cheap student travel" seem questionable. Anyone have any good travel companies that were reliable, safe, and affordable? By safe and reliable, I mean I won’t be scammed.

The best way is use kayak to search for flights and hotels and then book directly with the airline or hotel.
Most online Travel sites cannot be trusted since once they charge your credit card you are on your own.

I want to start a travel Agency and want to know where the travel agent gets their holidays from?

Hi
Im wanting to start a membership Travel Agency on line. I would like to know where the Tour Operators get their warehouse holidays in order to make a profit. Is there a software or website that the travel agents use were they get the holidays at a flat rate, factory (warehouse) price.
Obviously the Travel agent gets the holidays from somewhere and then put their own mark up on.

You will envitibly fail with no knowledge, ATOL or Abta bonded operation. Consider Home working first. Look at Travel Counsellors or Hays Travel. Even then you would need some background knowledge. To set up a website with none of the above, nobody will touch you with a barge pole. Sorry to e frank, but you could potentially lose lots of £££££’s

How travel time and cost become substitutes or complement?

Posted by admin | 13/05/10 | Tagged Travel

Interested in Learning More about Internet Marketing Try Commission Blueprint 2.0 here.

If we have Travel time and travel cost, under what conditions can they be considered as substitues? Under what conditions can they be considered as complements?
Could you please give example in transportation system?
Thanks.

When commuting to work people choose mode of transportation bases on a combination of time and cost, Public transportation or car pooling is cheaper than driving alone but takes more time, so people can substitute one for the other.
Vacation travel requires time so the more time you have for vacations the more money you will spend on transportation for travel, so time and cost will act as compliments.

Deduct travel expenses from tripif photographing scenics & submitting them to stock photo businesses?

Posted by admin | 28/04/10 | Tagged Travel

I’m a retired pro photographer and want to travel (with my husband as assistant) and take photos to submit to stock Photography companies. Scenics, local cultures, wildlife, etc.
How much of my travel expenses can I legally deduct from my USA income tax? Opinions? Experiences?

If the principal purpose of your travel is for business then you can deduct those costs, but you must prorate them between the Business and personal purposes.

If the principal purpose is personal then you can only deduct the portions of lodging and meals (at 50% on the meals) that are directly attributable to the business purpose. No Travel and transportation is deductible.

If the IRS determines that this is more of a hobby than a true business they will further limit any deductions that are allowable to the income you generated from selling the pictures. In this case the income goes on line 21 of Form 1040 and the allowable expenses go on Schedule A as a Miscellaneous Deduction.
